Deleting a Viewlane account affects the entire account. It is not the same as signing out, removing the app, or clearing one device.
Request deletion in Viewlane
- Open Library, then Settings.
- In the Account section, select your name or Viewlane Account to open Profile & Account.
- Select Delete Viewlane Account and review the consequences.
- Continue to identity verification.
- Verify and disconnect every Apple or Google sign-in connected to the account.
Deletion is scheduled only after every linked sign-in provider verifies the same Viewlane account. A different identity is rejected and does not affect either account.
Once deletion is scheduled
- All Viewlane sessions are signed out.
- Viewlane's authorization with each connected Apple or Google account is revoked.
- Access to your library, history, progress, ratings, favourites, notes, groups, and settings through the service is suspended. An offline device learns of the change when it reconnects.
- New reminders are not eligible for dispatch. An alert already handed to Apple cannot reliably be recalled; you can also disable alerts in iOS notification settings.
- A 30-day recovery window begins and the app displays the deletion deadline.
Recover during the 30-day window
Before the displayed deadline, sign in to Viewlane with the same linked Apple or Google account and choose Restore Account. The existing account and its unchanged personal data become available again; Viewlane does not create a replacement account.
Permanent deletion and backups
After the recovery deadline, the scheduled purge permanently removes the account and its personal library, history, progress, ratings, favourites, notes, groups, notification preferences, device registrations, delivery records, recovery material, and active sessions. Shared television and movie catalogue metadata is not personal account data and is not removed. Minimal private-pilot approval records remain disabled so an old invitation cannot reopen the account.
Private disaster-recovery backups expire within 30 days of creation. A backup made before permanent deletion may therefore retain an inaccessible copy until its own expiry date, for a maximum practical period of approximately 60 days from the original deletion request. Backup data is used only for disaster recovery and must not reactivate a deleted account.
Exports and copies you saved or shared remain in the locations you chose. Account deletion cannot remove those files or immediately erase saved content from a disconnected device. Remove personal export copies you no longer need and reconnect your other devices.
Keep your account and start over
For a viewing-data reset, use Settings → Export & Import → Erase Library & Viewing Data. This keeps your account and sign-in methods. Save a complete export first if you want a copy; a reset is permanent and does not use the account's 30-day recovery window.
Can't access the app?
Email [email protected] from the address connected to the pilot account whenever possible. If Apple Hide My Email was used, identify that the account uses an Apple private-relay address. Viewlane will verify account ownership before scheduling deletion and will never ask for a password, provider token, authorization code, or private key.
This webpage does not collect account identifiers, passwords, or viewing data. The email option is a fallback for an inaccessible app or device; the verified in-app control remains the fastest path.
